Die EVAN-Society ist eine Non-Profit-Organisation, die von EVAN-Mitgliedern gegründet wurde, um die Ziele der virtuellen Anthropologie in Europa und weltweit weiter voranzutreiben. Hauptziele sind die Pflege und der Aufbau weiterer Beziehungen zwischen den Institutionen, die in der Virtuellen Anthropologie tätig sind, die Weiterentwicklung der EVAN-Toolbox und des Archivs sowie der Zugang zu diesen europäischen Infrastrukturmaßnahmen und zugehörigen Informationen und Dokumentation.

Die Organisation wird durch Mitgliedsbeiträge finanziert, die über die Website verwaltet werden. Mitglieder können sich online auf der Website registrieren und den Mitgliedsbeitrag entrichten. Gültige Mitglieder haben die Möglichkeit, die EVAN Toolbox-Software von der Website herunterzuladen und online Lizenzen für die Software zu generieren. Die Herausforderung des Relaunchs war die Migration des Content Management Systems Drupal 6 auf ein etwas modifiziertes Wordpress-System und die Migration der Daten in dem Backend des Constituency Relationship Management System Civicrm in eine neuere Version.

The EVAN-Society is a non-profit organisation founded by EVAN members to further promote the goals of Virtual Anthropology in Europe and worldwide. Its main goals are to maintain and build up further relations between institutions working in Virtual Anthropology, to continue developing the EVAN Toolbox and Archive, and to provide access to these European infrastructural measures and related information and documentation.

The organization is funded by membership fees, which are managed through the website. Members can register online on the website and pay the membership fee. Valid members have the option to download the EVAN Toolbox software from the website and generate licenses for the software online. The challenge of the relaunch was the migration of the content management system Drupal 6 to a rather modified Wordpress system and the migration of the data in the backend Constituency Relationship Management System Civicrm to a newer version.

Inklusive Bibliothek

Das Reservierungssystem der inklusive Bibliothek wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Doris Forster und Sabrina Steinhuber von der Lebenshilfe Salzburg entwickelt und umgesetzt.

Ziel war es eine einfache Lösung zur Verwaltung von Medien einer Bibliothek zu finden, mit der Möglichkeit online Medien zu erfassen, zu reservieren, auszuleihen, zurückzugeben, zu mahnen und zu verlängern.

Das System ist auf Basis des CMS Drupal gebaut, das Reservierungsmodul wurde von uns entwickelt, leider haben gängige Open Source Reservierungsmodule nicht gepasst.

Inklusive Bibliothek

The reservation system of the inklusive Bibliothek was developed and implemented by Nora Dibowski and Simon Laburda in collaboration with Doris Forster and Sabrina Steinhuber of Lebenshilfe Salzburg.

The goal was to find a simple solution to manage library media with the ability to capture, reserve, loan, return, remind and extend.

The system is based on the open source CMS Drupal, the reservation module was developed by us, unfortunately, common open source reservation modules did not fit.

LeveL

LeveL is an interactive illuminated Mobile sculpture. It was exhibited at the London Design Biennale 2016 at Somerset House.

"A reflection on the fragile balance of utopia, mischer'traxler's kinetic light sculpture, LeveL, is poised to unsteady itself at the slightest movement. When the mobile is perfectly still, the lights are at their brightest, illuminating the room fully. As you enter and move around the space, your breath and the drafts of air you create make the rods tilt and the LEDs dim, setting the mobile out of balance. The delicate and ever-changing sculpture reflects on the precariousness of the utopian ideal, and its potential to unravel when subjected to the reality of everyday life."

mischer'traxler Studio asked us to develop the electronics and control-firmware for this interactive LED installation. Each illuminated end contains a circuit board with 6 high-power LEDs, an accelerometer and a microcontroller. The accelerometers are capable of sensing the smallest movements or bumps so the microcontroller can act accordingly. The boards do not communicate with each other electrically, instead all bumps and movements are passed on mechanically through the structure itself.

To allow testing and on-site calibration of all boards at once we developed a method for safely updating the firmware using only the two power cables.

Working on yet another project with mischer'traxler was a great experience for us. They are excellent designers and we always enjoy working with Katarina, Thomas and their team.

Solar power plant controller

Together with Swimsol we developed a high-resolution realtime monitoring system for solar power plants. The system can be used with large scale three-phase inverters, in small DC island systems and anything inbetween. The software is platform independent and runs on a wide range of embedded deivces and Desktop systems. It is also capable of intelligently controlling battery inverters/chargers to provide peak-shaving or provide information to Diesel gensets.

DKIA performed the software development and helped setting up a prototype on an island in the Maldives.

'Curiosity cloud’ celebrates a moment in nature and plays on the interaction between humans and the natural world.

Commissioned by Perrier-Jouët, the project was first presented in the Victoria and Albert Museum during London Design Festival 2015.
